Bugs Birds and Boots - Discovering and Exploring.......
Welcome
This site is for reflective teachers who are on the long journey toward establishing an Assisted Discovery Learning classroom. The author, Linda Cheer, has over 30 years experience as a teacher. During this time she has seen educational trends and fads come and go. Sharing ideas through this website will hopefully assist teachers who are constantly questioning some of the pressures they face on a daily basis.
Linda lives on a 1.6 hectare lifestyle block that boasts a forest of 250 trees. Almost every day, her grandchildren, clad in gumboots, discover, explore and play in The Forest. For her and her grandchildren, Assisted Discovery Learning is part of daily life. Establishing Assisted Discovery Learning in the classroom is a passion and requires enormous commitment. The restraints placed on teachers and schools make this a daunting task. Linda is keen to share her journey, the highs and lows in the hope it will inspire others to commit to this way of teaching.
